That is too funny...like a 60 second interval is too long for kids today to wait to send a message. Definitely a generational divide, I personally would love a solar flare to knock out all cell phones for a few days and see what happens to the texting generation when they actually have to talk real people the old fashioned way.

LG, I would be forced to do bodily harm to you if you "broke" my cell phone! It has nothing to do with a 'generational divide', there are just as many people our age (and older) who are very technologically advanced and depend on their cell phones, etc.

The land lines will still work, so you can relax. And your computer would still work so another option.

Kids today need to realize faster faster faster is not the only way to do things. Patience is becoming a lost art as well as talking to real people.

Anyone out there want to bet that more than 90% of the texts and cell phone calls are useless for content? Fortunately they do save lives and are a useful device for emergencies otherwise I would love to see them go extinct myself.

LG, you are an extinct breed! There is not much difference in communicating by computer than texting by cell phone.

You consider a computer acceptable because you have one and you use it.........


Landlines are becoming extinct. Out of all my friends, I am the only one who still has one. I keep it because it is cheap thru a package deal with the cable co, and I am considering dropping it (save the $15) because all I ever get is spam phone calls.

We put a man on the moon before cell phones, using a slide rule.

We descended to the greatest depths of the ocean without current technology.

We have landed probes throughout the solar system before any of these latest gadgets were invented, and have not surpassed those achievements yet.

Cell phones are a convenience, but I could live fine without them. I look around today and what do I see? People walking together but in their own little universe, ignoring a live person beside them to text/tweet their friends, and to be seen doing it is more important than whatever they are saying anyway. Like the "Be my friend on FB" deal, more about how many so called "friends" you have than real relationships with people you can count on.

We are creating a generation of technologically dependent kids more than ever before, and the biggest challenge for many schools now is finding who cheated rather than what anyone actually learned.

That is why I would love to see something disrupt the entire cellphone grid and even the internet and watch what happened next.

Like that episode on the Simpsons where the kids had to actually disconnect and go outside in the gasp "sunshine" and play.

It will happen, we are way overdue for a solar event and then we'll see what happens.

This whole thing literally was brought up due to a strict opinion. I had no intention of seeing anything happening at all. If anything, it was only to answer why it was 60 seconds, which in fact the question was answered. I understand what you are saying though LG, but unfortunately, my skills with typing aren't getting any slower, unless I slowed them down by myself.

I believe in technology and moving forward, not living in the past.

Most of today's technology was in use for Nasa and our gov'ts, way before the public gained access. Those "probes" in the atmosphere is what makes cell phones possible

Holographic technology is in use now by our gov'ts. As I recall reading more than once, you can't "wait to be able to use holographic computers and tv".


Anyway, this is all fine and dandy,, but has no bearing on shortening our wait period to 30 seconds, especially if it keeps members happy.


I wont insult them because they want things to move faster.

I do appreciate any feedback or suggestions, especially if it benefits all the members.
