Only read a handful of 'rock' bios....No One Here Gets Out Alive on the Doors, Somebody To LOve by Slick, and Hammer of the Gods on Zep....all were ok but the one I enjoyed the most was a little known one by Bill Bruford: Autobiography....about his days with YEs and CRimson....but I'm a prog fan so,,,,, 
I hear LIfe by Richards is good as well as Long Time Gone by Crosby...both are supposed to be brutally honest and funny with wild tales.

I think you would enjoy the new Cameron Crow book- The Uncool. It's a very personal accounting of his early years.
