R.I.P Ray, you'll be missed!
Dr. Hook with Ray Sawyer in front was the most popular band in the countryrock genre in the 70s and 80s here in Denmark. Their hits like 'Sylvias Mother', 'The Cover of the Rolling Stone', 'A Little Bit More' and 'When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman' was their most popular songs in the 70s, I remember. One of their legendary concerts was played at Roskilde Rockfestival west of Copenhagen in 1976. There was a heatwave that year and the concert went out a bit unrestrained because most of the fans dropped all their clothes in the heatwave. And with this comment from Ray "If you can do it, then we can do it as well', and then Ray and the other bandmembers dropped all their clothes, and played their last 3 songs only in socks. It became a huge frontpage story.
Ray Sawyer was very popular over decades and knew 'almost every corner of Denmark' as he said in an interview in 2011.
