Quiet Riot were set to release their 13th album, Road Rage, on April 21. But the recent departure of singer Seann Nicols has caused them to delay their plans by a few months so new vocalist James Durbin can go into the studio and put his own stamp on the material.

As drummer Frankie Banali notes in a press release, “After careful consideration, with the support of [record label] Frontiers, and understanding the appeals from Quiet Riot fans to have our vocalist James Durbin represented on the new Quiet Riot release, we have made the decision to move forward and have James replace all the vocals on Road Rage with new lyrics and melodies for a summer 2017 release. Stay tuned!”

Word that Quiet Riot had parted ways with Nicols surfaced last week, with Banali praising the singer’s work on the record but suggesting there were personality conflicts. “[A] band is not just talented — you have to get together,” he said. “We had to make the best decision for Quiet Riot. If there are problems so early in the cooperation, it’s better to pull the emergency brake.”

Durbin will be on board when the band launches its tour on March 18). You can see all the dates below and get more information at their website.

Nicols had been with the group since only October, and Banali admitted that he had wanted to hire Durbin, a fourth-place finisher on American Idol in 2011, but settled for Nicols because Durbin was unavailable. Nicols has already landed on his feet. It was announced this past week that he’ll be fronting Bobby Blotzer’s version of Ratt when the band resumes its schedule next week.
