All of the band’s 15 studio albums will be remastered and repackaged next year, with the following five being released in March:

Ugh.....don't remaster them....the production of Queen's albums are already as perfect as their going to get. The only one that might, slightly benefit from remastering would be their self titled debut. The rest are only going to get screwed up.

QUEEN PLANNING BIG 40th ANNIVERSARY YEAR:
Via Billboard/Reuters/Gibson and more: "After almost 40 years with EMI, rock legends Queen have signed a deal with Universal Music Group, according to Reuters. Re-releases of the band's studio albums have been announced for 2011, which also marks Queen's 40th anniversary. “We are very excited, after all this time, to be embarking on a new phase of our career – with a new record company, with new ideas and new dreams,” Queen guitarist Brian May said in a statement. The switch from EMI to Universal has been rumored since May but was only recently confirmed. This marks another high-profile loss for EMI, who have parted ways with The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and Radiohead in recent years.
Starting in 2011, Queen albums will appear on Universal subsidiary Island Records. Reportedly, the label will release each of the band's 15 studio albums with bonus content and remastered sound. In March, the first five re-releases – Queen, Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, A Night at the Opera and A Day at the Races – will hit stores and online retailers."

In short, looking for another revue stream. A lot of artists have done this over the years. I don't mind most remasterings ... well with the exception of the walking abortions known as Ozzy's first few albums remastered ... but I couldn't care less about "bonus content". Usually it seems to be live tunes from old concerts. Most of that doesn't do much of anything for me (but some can be ok).

I want the original albums intact myself. I don't want any bonus material added at all. Also if you are going to remaster these classic albums then go and Hire the Engineers from MFSL or Living Presence and do it Right!

EMI is on it's last legs financially, that is old news and every top band that leaves them is another wound. They are dying the death of a thousand tiny cuts, I have more Classical recordings from them than Rock music, but those old composer's get rerecorded all the time so I'm not worried.

In fact instead of buying the latest "Remaster" of a "Remaster", just try and get a copy of one of these editions, they are Pearlers, Belters, Blinders and Corkers every one, and I doubt that any new recording will match them.

Either on vinyl or CD these are my favorite versions of Queen's best albums.
