Even though I am a massive Deep Purple obsessive I voted for Robert Plant. In rock standards for me his voice just 'is' but Gillan also reached 'nirvana' espescially in 'Child in Time' (when he was young), Paul Rodgers is the underated one and Mercury was admittedly a great front man but involved with too many 'commercial sounding' songs and over played on the popular radio stations.

Ian Gillan followed by Mercury, Plant, Rodgers.

However, they're four impressive singers.

#1 - Rodgers (it's not even close for me)
#2 - Gillian
#3 - Mercury
#4 - Plant

I know some people love Plant, but his screechy, whiney, nasally vocals grind my gears like nails on a chalkboard. The other 3 guys in LZ made the band for me, but Plant was by FAR the weakest link and in my opinion, he couldn't lift the jockstraps of the other 3 guys with a forklift.
