One sided albums

Talking about the original vinyl releases here. What are the albums you can think of where one side is better then the other side?

Some of mine examples:

Side one:

Side two:

"Prelude to Madness" (Instrumental)
Hall of the Mountain King
The Price You Pay

Side one in mine opinion is way better then the second side.

The Savatage having a far better side then the other is purely mine opinion. It´s not about that.

Side one is soooo good. Imo they never made better songs.

Again it´s not about the examples I give and mine opinion about them.
It´s about whether which albums you know have a distinctly better side then the other side.

One that came to mind straight away was STARZs 3rd album "Attention Shoppers". IMO Starzs weakest album release. The 2nd side was promising with a few upbeat songs but the 1st side was full of A.O.R wimpdom. I wont slag the album off too much, but it was a REAL disapointment at the time and I know LG liked it.

As weird as it may sound, to me it's Very 'Eavy Very 'Umble. Sure it has great songs like Gypsy and Walking In Your Shadow, but Lucy Blues and Come Away Melinda make the side one less interesting. Side two on the other hand kills.

Oh, there are SO many albums that have one side that is clearly better than the other.

One of the first that comes to mind for me is Ronnie Dio's debut with Black Sabbath:

Heaven and Hell (1980)



Side 1:
1) Neon Knights
2) Children of the Sea
3) Lady Evil
4) Heaven and Hell

Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast (1982)



Side 2:
1) The Number of the Beast
2) Run to the Hills
3) Gangland
4) Hallowed Be Thy Name

Side 1 was great while side 2 was just one song.

Side 1
1. Stephanie Knows Who
2. Orange Skies
3. Que Vida
4. Seven & Seven Is
5. The Castle
6. She Comes In Colors

Side 2
1. Revelation

Revelation is like 17 minutes long with the never ending drum solo and all that stuff that makes you go insane after awhile.

Lynch:

Agree on the Maiden album. Not much better rock then that side.

Side 2 of Heaven and Hell is closer then the Maiden sides.

In the Wake of Poseidon

1. "Peace – A Beginning"
2. "Pictures of a City" (including "42nd at Treadmill")
3. "Cadence and Cascade"
4. "In the Wake of Poseidon" (including "Libra's Theme")

However, side 2 has Cat Food and the Peace themes so is hardly a waste. I just never was a fan of what they did with 'Mars'.

The Beatles-Abbey Road

Side one is very good but side two is legendary. Way, way better than side one.
