The ones "inside the band" that come to my mind first are:

-Eddie Van Halen vs Sammy Hagar/David Lee Roth
-Ian Gillan vs Ritchie Blackmore
-Nikki Sixx/Tommy Lee vs Vince Neil
-Gene Simmons vs Peter Criss/Ace Frehley
-Neal Schon vs Steve Perry
-Lou Gramm vs Mick Jones
-Don Dokken vs George Lynch
-Steven Tyler vs Joe Perry
-Malcolm Young vs Phil Rudd

The Beatles certainly had some feuds later on.

Ringo even left the band (as most of us here know) for a period because he was so frustrated.

And we can't forget the whole George/Yoko thing

Nightwish Tarja Turenen and the lead guitarist founder Tuomas Holopainen, apparently he decided that she was no longer putting the bands interests first and blamed part of the emerging rift on her husband. Fired after a concert when Tuomas gave her a letter which the other band members signed Tarja was shocked gave a couple of interviews on the matter and then went on to her own solo career.

Too bad although I like Annette Olzon fine, something is missing from Nightwish's epic sound now, and they are still Finland's best selling artists of all time.

Part of me understands Nightwishes reasoning but nothing justifies doing that publicly, behind closed doors out of the media etc would have been the better more dignified way and professional way of handling it.

You are right about that Riff, should have been done with more class and professionalism, Tarja was a big part of what made Nightwish an international success, to fire her like that...well it's a chickenshit way to do it frankly.

Helloween guitarist Michael Wiekath did something even worse, when he found out two of the members of his band were holding back songs and preparing to release a side project, he sent them an e-mail, telling them they were no longer in the band. Michael Kiske and Roland Grapow the singer and guitarist both were shocked when they got that in the mail.

James Hetfield was a real **** to Jason Newsted regarding Echobrain, in fact through all of Newsteds time with Metallica they all treated him like shit.
But Hetfield particularly was a **** to Jason by saying he couldnt be in the same band if he did Echobrain, I dont blame Newsted one bit for walking out.
Newsted deserved respect for stepping upto the plate to fill some pretty big shoes in Cliff Burtons.
