Music is the greatest pick-me-up I can think of. In the ward where I work, we now play music constantly and also help our young patients out by donating mp3 players and assist them load them with music of their choice. We also talk to them about music and most of them react in a very positive way. I am talking about young folk who in some cases are pretty heavily medicated with anti-psychotic drugs and tranquillisers but overall I think music is hugely beneficial to them while they are in hospital.

I can see that Sunny! It makes perfect sense! Not saying that the kids are beast but it's true when they do say that music can cure the savage beast! :)

What are your music examples for each mood? :grinthumb

If I'm feeling ultra-stressed, this George Harrison song does the trick: (It's exam time, so this one gets a regular thrashing)

If I'm just feeling down in the dumps and need cheering up, Joe Walsh is the man for the job:

I know exactly what Soot means and it's got nothing to do with narcotics.

I won't cover anger, since I rarely ever get angry at all. But I do get stress, and to relieve that a little bit of Xavier Rudd's melodic roots music always does the trick for me!

For sadness, which again is rare, I prefer to let it all out at once. And for that only The Antlers can suffice:

And finally for hapiness, well I like a vomit-inducingly-cute pop tune:

:heheh:

Thanks Dave! Having said that Dave do you have any picks having to do with my OP Dave! You like a variety of music! I'm sure there is an example of Mad, Happy and Sad in there somewhere! :grinthumb
At my age? I'm sure there are hundreds of songs. But I'm too tired to think about it right now so I'll get back to you. I guess I need some unwind and sleepy time tunes. Definitely not time for Van Halen! :D

More songs with (alleged) drug references to ignore:

Purple Haze (Hendrix)
8 Miles High (The Byrds)
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds (The Beatles)
Heroin (Lou Reed)
Cocaine (JJ Cale, Eric Clapton)

No problem Dave! I was going to keep updating it in series of threes so when you are more in the mood for it the thread will still be here! :grinthumb Peace!

Actually Tori Amos' Crucify EP sounds like a good choice right about now to lull me to sleep.

My current favorite "chill pill" song:

I listen to this and a couple other bucket tunes while taking a bubble bath....excellent stress relievers for me. The quiet ambience of this song just puts me in a special place :)

If I want my spirits lifted when I am feeling down, the best "anti-depressants" for me are:

I dont know why, but the tempo and "happy" feel of these songs just get me moving and feeling very happy

:woho:
