Crue to be sued if they ever tour again

Motley Crue have signed a contract to guarantee they’ll never tour again following their farewell world trek.

The Cessation of Touring Agreement, signed in front of hundreds of witnessed from the press last night, ensures the band can’t come back after the end of 2015.

And they’ve confirmed the movie version of their celebrated book The Dirt will appear after they’ve played their last show.

Crue have been plotting their own demise for some time, with bassist Nikki Sixx insisting they’d “blow their own brains out” when the time came to quit.

Drummer Tommy Lee says: “Everything must come to an end. We always had a vision of going out with a big ****ing bang, and not playing county fairs, or clubs with one or two original band members. Our job here is done.”

But Sixx warns: “When it comes to putting together a new show we always push the envelope. Letting on to what we’re doing would be like finding out what you’re getting for Christmas before you open the presents. In an age of too much information we’d like to keep some surprises close to our chest.”

The band, who were formed in 1981, will set off on their Final Tour on July 2, with more than 72 shows in the US. That will be followed by gigs across the rest of the world next year.

Alice Cooper will open the shows, with Crue admitting: “Alice invented the genre and Crue put steroids in it.” Cooper adds: “Real hard rock bands are hard to find these days. Motley has always gone on stage with one attitude: blow the audience away. That’s exactly how we do it.”

The Dirt movie will be released next year, directed by Jackass mastermind Jeff Tremaine, who said last year: “The Dirt is something I pursued with everything I had. I’ve wanted to make this going back to 2002. I put everything I had into chasing it, and convincing everyone that I am the right guy for it. I really feel I am.”

Meanwhile, it’s been announced that country music artists are working on a Crue tribute album. It will feature Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw and many others; and executive Scott Borchetta says: “Our album will highlight just how great the Motley Crue song catalog is. At the end of the day, that’s what will stand the test of time.”

I didn't know there was (or could be) such a thing as a contract to never tour again.

I foresee a huge PR trick coming in the future................

I was thinking the same thing? Why would someone sign a contract to never play again and who would request that they never tour again?

Anyway....Alice Cooper should be the headliner! :pullhair:

This would be such great news except that I know it's just a stunt. If enough people are interested they will show their 'rebel' street cred and be miraculously forgiven while they rake in tens of thousands? from....ummm the folks who would go to a crue show.

Schills gonna schill

Motley Crue is not breaking up.

ultimateclassicrock.com

Amidst all the hoopla surrounding the announcement of Motley Crue‘s final tour, it seems one important fact has been overlooked: the band is not actually breaking up.

Our first clues came from Loudwire‘s talk with singer Vince Neil and bassist Nikki Sixx at this week’s big farewell press conference. When asked if the group would reunite to play if inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, neither closed the door. Neil said they’d have to discuss it, and Sixx explained that what they were promising was to do was “cease to tour.” The implication would be that special one-off events such as the Hall of Fame could still be a possibility.

Now Neil has clarified this statement even further, and even more interestingly, has indicated that the band will still work together in the studio. In an interview with KDKB in Phoenix, he said, “Here’s the thing. Motley Crue’s not breaking up. We’re still gonna be making music. We’re still [gonna be selling] merchandise and stuff like Motley Crue things.” While explaining that they might not be trafficking in full albums anymore, he suggests, “We’ll probably just make music — do songs for certain things. Motley Crue will still be around, we’re just not gonna tour anymore. That’s really kind of it.”

When asked again if the group would play at a Hall of Fame Induction, Neil predicted, “Probably so, but that would probably be it. I mean, there’s no more touring.”

So, if you’re a rich oil baron hoping to lure the band out of retirement, think again. “Somebody just brought up … ‘Okay, how about this? If a Saudi prince had a birthday party for his daughter and gave you $10 million each, would you do it?’ [And we wouldn't.] It’s like everybody’s looking for the loophole, for the gray area. We’re done.”

I can see them getting together to do those big event shows, like Farm Aid.

Or maybe one of those disaster benefits.

If so, I wouldn't have a problem with that.

As far as their still together/not touring stance, it doesn't seem like they're telling a stretcher.

They've been around for a long time and have, very publically, gone through quite a bit of personal strife.

If anyone needs time off, it's Mick Mars, for sure. It's astounding the guy can even stand up.

If they want to chill, have at it, I say.

Reading this double speak I'm hearing "Won't Get Fooled Again" in my head. Leaving the door open by saying they are not disbanding but just not touring gives me cause to think we haven't seen the last of the Crue just yet.

I would have Alice Headlining too.
