I voted for Pink Floyd of course, but the Beatles are right up there with them.

Well since we could vote for multiple bands in the poll, I went with the 1st 3. Led Zeppelin has influenced everyone it seems, and Van Halen influenced the whole 80s "hair Band" era IMO. (and I really don't care what people say about the 80s now a days, if you lived in that decade, you know it was a hell of a fun time) and last but not least Black Sabbath, without them we wouldn't have all the great metal bands ..

I think it's fine that The Beatles aren't on the list. If they were, they'd win in a landslide. Without them, other bands have a fighting chance. My vote went to The Stones.

The most influential bands on modern rock music should also include some of the classic 60's bands, primarily The Beatles who influenced just about everyone; The Kinks who started the roots of heavy metal with You Really Got Me; and Cream who bought the guitarist to the front of rock 'n roll bands.

From the list, the following bands get my vote for their contribution to their respective genres -
Led Zeppelin
Jimi Hendrix
Yes
Pink Floyd

and I should have included Black Sabbath and Lynyrd Skynyrd

I have a lot of musical influences. I can't say just one band. I am inspired by some people vocally, some guitarists and even some with their morals. I have a variety of solo artists that influence me.

Had to go with AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, and Led Zep BUT if we were getting down to brass tacks and not opinions I would have said the Beatles. I was surprised I didn't see them on the list.

The Beatles should be #1.

I chose Led Zeppelin because they basically took rock by storm and were the first metal band (looking back). The Rolling Stones could be third, but they weren't as innovative as LZ, with the different combinations of influences in their music.
