I’m convinced my local “classic rock” station is on refeed.
Anyone who has been paying attention knows that I have very low expectations from terrestrial radio especially and rarely rely on it for entertainment. However in my workspace, I can hear local classic rock radio station being played by those with no imagination and it is atrocious if you ask me. I have begun to notice that they will play the same certain songs at least once a day. Nothing new really. They seem to have a list of certain four or five songs from artists and will only play those four or five songs but to play “Let It Be” at least once a day every day or “Because The Night” once a day everyday, “Summer of ‘69”, and so on, it’s just lazy and ridiculous.
Competition must be great. There have been a few radio personalities dismissed from stations recently. I mean if over the air radio has no need to do a job better, then why have a real host pretending to make music selections at all. It’s a playlist that features the highest commodity songs circulated every five hours to capture the greatest audience in the average length of the time it takes you to drive to work.

Now as a former music collector, every once in a while I get the urge to hunt for an album I do not have or one I need to replace. I recently reminded myself of the Dream A Little Dream Soundtrack. I think I have a cassette copy of it somehow, somewhere. I could easily find that cassette, record it to cd in my basement equipment, and have a cassette recording with all its limitations on cd. That often satisfies me these days. Priorities and such.

But just for fun, I look for the official cd release on Amazon. $26.

I’m going to keep looking for my cassette and wonder if this fevor will fade.

Just like the breed of desperate people who push shopping carts around city streets, yelling at traffic, so too my remarks have little power to change. But just so I have this correct:
Jay Z and The Beastie Boys are both in The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame but not Ronnie James Dio or Iron Maiden?
N.W.A. is in as inspiring gangsta rap while groups like Kansas and Jethro Tull shifts in the progressive rock movements are completely ignored.
Missy Elliot is in but not Alanis Morissette, Stone Temple Pilots, Tears For Fears, or The Replacements for example.
Right. Makes sense to me. GG Hall of Fame.

That's why I have been calling it the Rock n Roll 'Hall of Shame' for some years now.
:grr:
There are quite a few 'rap and hip hop' artists in the hall but most in the music business do not consider those areas rock n roll.....yet as you mentioned many popular rock acts still are not in the hall. Why?

The Guess Who really had a short successful run with some very popular singles and songwriting, and groups like REO Speedwagon who had seemed to successfully tour non-stop for decades are being passed over to include rap and hip hop artists for no good reason.

It's become a popularity contest or inside politics thing most likely....a few who aren't in but should be....
Iron Maiden, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Motorhead, Blue Oyster Cult, Thin Lizzy, Boston, Rainbow, Uriah Heep, Grand Funk Railroad,, etc,,,,these are well known ones... the list goes on.
There are many lists,,this was interesting.......not sure how up to date...

Members of the band Asia were from England.
The trio who called themselves The Presidents of The United States of America were never elected to office.
Europe was from Sweden.
The guys that sing “Sweet Home Alabama” are all from Florida.
Bad Company were reportedly really quite nice once you got to know them.
And The Baby’s were all grown men.

Back in the early 2000’s, I found a bloke on eBay selling compact disc collections of questionable licensing rights. They are packaged as licensed in Russia. Anyway, the sets are often two albums of a particular musical artist on one cd. Almost all sets are complete studio discography and some live albums. So for instance, all The Beatles original 12 UK albums plus some odds packaged on seven or eight cds. Very cool collections back then.
Today’s journey takes me through my Slade collection. Yes. That Slade. Fourteen of their studio albums and three live albums on a nine disc set.
