Mick Jagger's fashion designer girlfriend L'Wren Scott has been found dead in her New York City apartment.
A spokesman for Jagger, who is currently on tour in Australia, said the singer was "completely shocked and devastated".
US media reports, citing law enforcement sources, say the death is being investigated as a possible suicide.
Scott, 49, began dating the 70-year-old rocker in 2001.
The Rolling Stones are slated to perform in Perth on Wednesday.
Scott, originally from Utah, had her own fashion label popular with celebrities, and was a fixture on Jagger's arm.
At around 6ft 3in, she towered over her famous boyfriend on the red carpet.
Scott founded her high-end label in 2006 and recently created a more affordable line of clothes with retailer Banana Republic.
She has dressed several stars, including Nicole Kidman, Oprah Winfrey, Sarah Jessica Parker and Angelina Jolie.
