I need you to help me for the lyrics of the redemption song of the Budapest live concert in 1983.
One of the stanza was changed compares to the original song (where the 1st stanza is sung again)
It begins with
Too many generations
Live alone into the ???
But we will stand and try ???
When redemption's day is done
Can someone hear the song and tell me ? It's so frustrating not to know what it says !
I hope the album has cleaner audio than this video. I'm not sure I can hear it well enough.
These are the lyrics from Somewhere In Afrika:
"Redemption Song (No Kwazulu)"
(No Kwazulu, No Kwazulu)
(No Boputatswana)
(No Lebowa). [Repeat]
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery
None but ourselves can free our minds
Have no fear for atomic energy
For none of them can stop the time
How long shell they kill our prophets
While we stand aside and look
Some say it's just a part of it
We've got to fulfill the book
[CHORUS]
So won't you help to sing (No Kwazulu)
These songs of freedom (No boputatswana)
'Cause all I ever hear (No Transkei)
Is Redemption Song
Soldiers march their freedom
Out into the city streats
And though it seems like a loosing battle
These can be no retreat
[CHORUS]
These are the lyrics from the original Bob Marley version (album: Uprising) if they help:
"Redemption Song"
Old pirates, yes, they rob I;
Sold I to the merchant ships,
Minutes after they took I
From the bottomless pit.
But my hand was made strong
By the 'and of the Almighty.
We forward in this generation
Triumphantly.
Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom?
'Cause all I ever have:
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs.
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our minds.
Have no fear for atomic energy,
'Cause none of them can stop the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look? Ooh!
Some say it's just a part of it:
We've got to fulfill the book.
Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom?
'Cause all I ever have:
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs.
[Guitar break]
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our mind.
Wo! Have no fear for atomic energy,
'Cause none of them-a can-a stop-a the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look?
Yes, some say it's just a part of it:
We've got to fulfill the book.
Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom?
'Cause all I ever had:
Redemption songs
All I ever had:
Redemption songs:
These songs of freedom,
Songs of freedom.
In fact its really the stanza where you put "chorus" the second time that I'm looking for.
It must be an invention for that concert particularly because it's only in the live version you hear it; every other time it's the lyrics you wrote
Here is the link of that version in a better quality

The stanza begins at 2:08
