To me it was the next logical step for Devoto to part ways with The Buzzcocks, Spiral Scratch EP was excellent.... but the vibe for Howard was elsewhere, Real Life was a fine debut album-but it was always about John McGeoch and his unconventional chops on that Yamaha SG 1000...captivating!
