Train - Drops of Jupiter

One of the main reasons I always liked this song was because the lyrics are kind of nonsensical but still meaningful.............

Did you make it to the Milky Way
to see the lights all faded
and that heaven is overrated?

The Story In Your Eyes - The Moody Blues

"Listen to the tide slowly turning
Wash all our heartaches away
We're part of the fire that is burning
And from the ashes we can build another day

But I'm frightened for your children
That the life that we are living is in vain
And the sunshine we've been waiting for
Will turn to rain"

Frigid As England - The Cutting Crew

"I was your tramp and your trampoline
I was your plaster, I was your plasticine
Remodel me and dynamite my bridges
I'm a new boy now, love is
As wrong as the map that led us to this
As blind as the bat that watched our first kiss
As tame as the moon you held in your hand
As wild as me and as frigid as England"

Some good metaphor in this song. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but I'm sure it does to the writer. :D

We've all seen the man at the liquor store beggin' for your change
The hair on his face is dirty, dreadlocked and full of mange
He asked a man for what he could spare with shame in his eyes
"Get a job, you ****in' slob"'s all he replied

God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in his shoes
'Cause then you really might know what it's like to sing the blues

Everlast - What It's Like

This whole tune just kicks ass.

Did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in a war
For a lead role in a cage?

great lyrics - great blues feeling and one of my favorite songs in general!!!

This hotel bar is full of people,
The piano man is really laying it down,
The old bartender is as high as a steeple,
So why tonight should I wear a frown?

The joint is jumpin' all around me,
And my mood is really not in style,
Right now the blues flock to surround me,
But I'll break out after a while.

Yes I'm a million miles away,
I'm a million miles away,
I'm sailing like a driftwood,
On a windy bay,
On a windy bay.

One of Waters's best lyrics (although it is credited to the group):

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine
Staying home to watch the rain
And you are young and life is long
And there is time to kill today
And then one day you find
Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun

And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter
Never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught
Or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone
The song is over
Thought I'd something more to say

Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
When I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire
Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells

I also like the Breathe Reprise, but omitted it because these are supposed to be extracts

Rock & Roll Candy Man - Bloodrock

Crime don't pay, least that's what they say
Don't it make you mad the things they're doing
You and me, we can plainly see
All things are meant for some but none for others
Think about it

The Eagles - The Sad Cafe

Out in the shiny night, the rain was softly falling
The tracks that ran down the boulevard had all been washed away

Out of the silver light, the past came softly calling
And I remember the times we spent
Inside the Sad Cafe

Oh, it seemed like a holy place, protected by amazing grace
And we would sing right out loud, the things we could not say
We thought we could change this world with words like "love" and "freedom"
We were part of the lonely crowd
Inside the Sad Cafe

Oh, expecting to fly.
We would meet on that shore in the sweet by and by

Some of their dreams came true,
Some just passed away
And some of them stayed behind
Inside the Sad Cafe.

The clouds rolled in and hid that shore
Now that Glory Train, it don't stop here no more
Now I look at the years gone by, and wonder at the powers that be.
I don't know why fortune smiles on some and lets the rest go free

Maybe the time has drawn the faces I recall
But things in this life change very slowly if they ever change at all
There's no use in asking why it just turned out that way
So meet me at midnight baby
Inside the Sad Cafe.
Why don't you meet me at midnight baby
Inside the Sad Cafe.

"Middle Cyclone Neko Case (2009)

Baby, why'm I worried now? Did someone make a fool of me,
'fore I could show 'em how it's done?

Can't give up actin' tough...it's all that I'm made of.
Can't scrape together quite enough,
to ride the bus to the outskirts of the fact that I need love.
