Founding Foreigner members Lou Gramm and Mick Jones are preparing to write new material in September.

The combination of lead vocalist Lou Gramm and guitarist Mick Jones in Foreigner, while at times stylistically bombastic, stands as one of the more formidable songwriting duos in rock. During their initial collaborations, Gramm and Jones penned a compilation of songs now synonymous with the genre, such as “Blue Morning, Blue Day,” “I Want to Know What Love Is,” “Head Games” and “Urgent.”

While Lou Gramm has since departed the Foreigner lineup, it appears that the two will be working with one another again in the near future. During a recent interview with ‘The Wease Show’ on Rochester classic rock station 95.1 The Brew, Gramm revealed that he and Jones have plans to collaborate later this year. “Sometime in September, Mick and I are gonna get together and write some music,” the singer revealed.

“I’m excited about it and very much looking forward to it.” Dedicated fans who have been patiently waiting for the two to work on a new Foreigner studio album together, however, may be disappointed; instead, the pair will be joining forces to work on material for their individual upcoming efforts. “I’m actually helping him with a couple of songs on a solo album that he’s gonna be releasing, and he’s gonna help me with a couple of songs on an album that I’ll be releasing next year,” Gramm explained.

A decade after their previous live appearance with one another, Lou Gramm and Mick Jones shared the same stage during their induction into the 2013 Songwriters Hall of Fame. According to Gramm, that may not be the last time we see the duo perform live. “There’s always the possibility that we’ll perform together again. That’s been mentioned between the two of us, and we kind of said, ‘Yeah, that would be fun,’” says Gramm.

Whether this will happen in the foreseeable future is uncertain, the vocalist warns. “There’s nothing going on between our respective managements about, ‘Oh, let’s make sure we put that together.’”
