The Doors - Roadhouse Blues

I like the studio version, but the live version where the announcer is like "Ladies and gentlemen, from LA.....THE DOORS"

That version is by far my favorite of the song.

This maybe doesn't qualify 100% because the studio version features a formal band and the live version is done solo (with a backing band) but with a key member and that would be the live version of Sweet Jane as done by Lou Reed off of the ridiculously good Rock and Roll Animal LP.

Both versions are similar yet different on many levels. The Velvet Underground version from Loaded is charming in and of itself and I like it alot but there's no denying Lou juices Sweet Jane up quite a few notches. It gets my nod.:grinthumb

Well, mostly the live versions of the more "commercial" rock songs seem to sound better to my ears in the end.
Two of my fave live rock versions are Black Dog and Black Night....
