Re: Les Paul R.I.P
Actually Les Paul was not the inventor of the Electric Guitar. It was invented by Adolph Rickenbacker in 1933. Les Paul was one of the pioneers (along with Leo Fender) of the sold-body electric guitar. Fender brought it to market first (1946) although Les Paul had developed it first (1941). It was a prototype. Gibson didn't use his design and there were delays in bringing it to market. The Les Paul came to market in 1952 and was based on Les Paul's original prototype. The actual design (the shape and color) were not LP's. I recently watched a documentary on this. He is credited however with many other innovations including over-dubbing and multi-track recording.
In any case R.I.P. Les Paul.
