Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson recount their meeting with Plant and Page in 1998...

Great stories from both... Lee and Lifeson have good sense of humors.

That was a great little sound bit George...:D

They aren't that far apart, Zep and Rush I mean...I will get chased out of here by the rabid fans but I think Rush has surpassed Zeppelin now:peek

A testimonial to them staying together and they keep releasing new albums.

I think Jimmy or Robert should buy the next round if they are in a pub kicking back next time they meet.:cheers2

No harm no foul LG. I respect Rush's massive discography and have picked up a few here in the past few weeks and enjoyed them and agree their haul is far more extensive than Zep's. On the other hand, I'd be willing to say Zep has the more iconic tune selection while Rush has been putting out solid albums far longer. However, I'd blame that on the boys' unwillingness to go on after Bonham's death much like the Who did. There's no telling what their sound would have developed into during the eighties and if all we have to go by to tell is ITTOD then I'm personally glad they stopped. :grinthumb

^^I think Rush is the most amazing band over the last 30 years. As far as the first 4 Zeppelin albums and Physical Graffiti go they stand up with anyone in rock music history.

But for longevity, ability to adapt, and stay active touring no other band I can think of can match what Rush have done. They have kept Hard Rock alive for decades.

I have every album by both bands...

I think they're pretty much equal. It's all about the quality, not the quantity.

I like every Zeppelin album except Coda and some of ITTOD, I pretty much stop listening to Rush after Grace Under Pressure.

Yes, they have. For that they deserve much respect. I think of them as the hard rock parallel of Yes while Zeppelin were The Beatles of the same genre. Not that I'm drawing any type of conclusion but just an observation on styles and musical directions.

Rush though to their credit NEVER indulged in the rock star excess that bogged down Zeppelin resulting in unfortunate circumstances and events for them.

I have plenty of Love for Led Zeppelin, but I was just making reference that another hard rocking band I think has surpassed them.

Right now in the library I have all the Vinyl editions of Zep, the first CD's, and the new Remasters, and the first 4 in SHM import. So my love for Zeppelin is intact.

RS...they have done some top notch albums after Grace...you should give them a chance.

George, indeed I concur they have never fallen prey to the rock star syndrome unlike many of their peers.

Two of the greatest bands in history...hope that calms the Zeppelin fanatics down a little.;)
