I think like somebody said in the other thread, Gaga & Bowie would be a better match. Ever since I heard that idea, I have been just DYING to hear a mashup of Just Dance and Let's Dance.

But if Queen and Gaga were to genuinely collaborate, it could end up good for both camps. It DID work for Robert Plant and Allison Kraus. I agree it'd be a very hard road to conquer, but I think it hinges on whether they're all ready to put out new material that is really worthy of winning new fans. :D

If it didn't sound like shit then yes, I would. :heheh:

See, the difference there is you full into the "20's or younger" crowd that I mentioned earlier and much more used to the music style these days. I'm sure a lot of the older Queen fans would have a much harder time accepting this pairing, but who knows? :grinthumb

I would definitely prefer Gaga and Bowie over Gaga and Queen. Bowie and Gaga both have that sorta "out there" persona going on. They'd be a perfect match on stage.

I can understand that Brian May and Roger Taylor want to keep playing and touring, especially under the Queen banner. I'm just not sure Lady Gaga is really the right person to do it with.

On one hand she could add some much needed youth and energy to the band, that maybe someone like Paul Rodgers couldn't [bearing in mind he's been doing it longer than Queen have], but I just can't see it working live.

Maybe an album or something, not sure.

The difficulty for May and Taylor is that they'll never find someone to truly replace Mercury, and they'll cop a lot of flak for whoever they choose. A revolving door of vocalists could work, or find someone who is completely unknown.

From someone that hates Queen.

:wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf: !!!!!!!

No ! the fact that this IS even being considered turns my stomach :puke:
Come on Brian , don't be so eager to play that you reduce to a wannabe with a minor bit of talent to front the brilliance of your talent?

the very fact that GaGa fans consider you 'an aging rocker:rolleyes:' is proof enough for me.that her fans lack the maturity or grace that would befit your playing or Freddies' legend..find someone else PLEASE..:uh:

I assume this is directed at my previous comments, so here goes...

What I mean is, Gaga appeals to a much younger, pop-driven audience (mostly 20's and under). I doubt that half of her fans even know who Queen is outside of songs like "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions". Doesn't mean they lack any sort of traits (just because someone isn't into classic rock, which doesn't apply to anyone here, doesn't make them a social pariah... but I'm thinking a lot of Gaga fans fit into that category of appreciating more pop or dance inspired tunes rather than 70's and 80's rock).

I don't speak for all Gaga fans (I find her entertaining but she's no Led Zeppelin to me. I can live without her) so please don't generalize just by my comments. There seems to be a lot of pop bashing on this forum. Like it or not, pop and rock are musical relatives. They are often times influenced by the other. We all appreciate different things, let's embrace that! I appreciate your opinion on the matter. :grinthumb

So you see, the pairing of a contemporary pop artist with a 70's/80's rock giant would benefit Queen but in the longrun hurt Lady Gaga. They're appealing to two completely different audiences with different tastes. Classic rock and pop fans such as AAG or myself may appreciate it and recognize the effort, but the younger fans or older fans alike who like one or the other may not really get it. Can you really expect a die hard Queen fan to appreciate someone wearing a meat dress singing "Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy"?

I'm gonna address this because I'm very fond of you both. I don't think Astrid's post was directed at you ILJP, but more so to anyone that may think Lady GaGa may think Queen are aging rockers. Which they are and it's gonna happen to GaGa as well.

We all have to understand that QUEEN has like a MILLION miles under their belt and their catalog went WAYYY past We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions. :grinthumb

I could start with a list of 40 radio hits and probably keep going but I won't.

No matter what I personally feel for GaGa, I don't dislike her as a whole...It's just at this time and place I don't see myself buying any of her stuff.

I have bought other pop acts male or female from todays world though, so I'm secure in my classic and in the now skin. :grinthumb

I see one point, that it may look as though there is alot of pop bashing on the forum, but when I look deeper, I really don't see it! Astrid, (and I don't want to put words in her mouth cause we can all speak for ourselves) is a fan of pop music for as long as I can remember. Hell she's not ashamed to say she likes the Partridge Family/ David Cassidy or The Bay City Rollers..and I'm sure there are some newer artists she likes today as well.

ILJP, again not trying to speak for anyone, loves Led Zeppelin with a mighty passion.

But there are things some of us are not going to like. How about some KISS...anyone?? :heheh:

I think our online family and forum has the most content of any other classic rock forum out there...we have the 50's (and well before) through the 2011's. At the end of the day we are all here because we LOVE MUSIC..this is what drives us. Sometimes we won't see eye to eye..and our favorites are going to be defended no matter what.

I can see what would make someone sad at an "opinion" of aging rockers, because we don't know if this is really how GaGa feels. It's an assumption of how she might feel. But she's been seen with alot of famous rockers, from KISS, To Queen, to Iron Maiden...you name it. She loves her rock and roll and for that I give her props.

Let's not allow my post here to scare anyone away from voicing there opinions...but at the end of the day let's all keep things in perspective! I love everyone here and I would like to think that we all care about each other....we rock with each other...cry with each other...let off steam with each other.

But one thing is for certain...

It all comes back to the music!! :grinthumb :cheers2

Absolutely not! Why would they even think of it. I love Queen and I like Gaga but let's not go there please. Nobody will EVER replace Freddie.

That's partly why I don't like it much myself. I'm sure Gaga's intentions aren't meant to replace Freddy. But, Freddy simply can't be replaced, even if it isn't what Gaga wants to do.
