Good stuff here... Very early Kiss on the Midnight Special. Very high quality video and sound. Amazingly good actually considering the time and location.
If I had to guess, I'd say that this was filmed before Dressed to Kill came out.

This Midnight Special Footage never gets old.....great stuff on the Kissology also...before those came out we had to suffer with bootleg versions on video tape.

As you might know I was always heavy into learning & reading about the beginnings of Kiss Wicked Lester & pre Wicked Lester stuff so...
I just recently found out that "Only You" from the Elder was a reworking of a pre Wicked Lester(from the short lived Rainbow) song titled "Eskimo Sun". I never heard "Eskimo Sun" but have seen it listed on early setlists. Here's "Only You":

Cool trivia...would this be the song that Paul Stanley was teasing Gene Simmons about (in Exposed), when Gene played in like a hippy bar and had all these songs...one in particular that Paul teases Gene with and sings, "I love Eskimoooos" ???

Wow!!! You know it probably is!!!! LOL! Personally, I love the song "Stanley the Parrot" from Gene's pre Kiss/Wicked Lester Days (Bullfrog Bheer). You can hear a little bit of Strutter in it.
By the way MP I bought a set of those AliveII guitar picks in your avatar. I have R & R Over & their first album picks as well!

Yeah Simmons is actually a smart writer...I wouldn't say he's Zappa but he was odd that way...heck on his solo album he wrote with Dylan and Zappa (from the grave) with the help of Dweezil and all that.
What he did with KISS was genius...the make up mixed with his own sick spin on innuendos, especially in the 70's was right on.
But his early stuff was pretty experimental, wierd and trippy. Paul Stanley was the rock band as you know who Simmons would lend his gear to when he was opening for Paul's band with just an acoustic singing all those odd tunes.

Man, I love that tune. Actually, I love that whole album. I know it's not for everyone and the whole 'concept' theme is very non-standard for Kiss, but I just dig it.
