He was a fun drummer to watch always doing something extra with his sticks clowning around.

He taught Mickey Dolenz to play drums. I think Barbata is one of rock's best drummers. He is so underrated.

True story. Frank Zappa asked Mickey Dolenz to play drums in his band and he had to decline because of prior commitments. I saw Mickey on drums a couple years ago and I couldn't believe it was him playing. He got real good real quick.

This was one of those names, Barbata, that I knew but didn't know where from. So I looked at his site, did some reading, and Voila! I know who this is :)

He was a very well known drummer of the 70's. Did alot of session work, too, most of which he never received credit for. He deserves more credit........and appreciation.

This is a pretty obscure album from 1971 and re-released in 2004, but well worth trying to obtain.

Joel Scott Hill (guitar/vocals)
Flying Burrito Brothers' Chris Ethridge (bass/piano/vocals)
The Turtles' Johnny Barbata (drums)
