Jimmy Page has not given up on making music with Robert Plant again, saying he has some “really good ideas.”

Plant recently described the idea of Led Zeppelin touring again as “everything that's shitty about big-time stadium rock.” But Page says he is still open to the idea, although he adds that recording his ideas with another musical project is more likely.

Led Zep last performed together in 2007 as part of the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert at the O2 Arena in London. The show was later released on a DVD called Celebration Day.

Page tells the Berkshire Eagle: “Robert seems really keen on just wanting to make music on his own without any of his previous band members. It seems quite apparent because I've seen him with these projects that come and go during the period where I've been dealing with this project, with the exception of the O2 and Celebration Day.

"That's all right because it is what it is. I certainly have some really good ideas. I want to be seen playing this new material, say next year."

Page adds that they band opted to disband after the death of John Bonham in 1980 because going on without him would have been "dishonest”, but that the 2007 reunion proved they could pull it off.

He says: It would be totally dishonest. So it took time, a time to be able to reconsider doing anything like that. But of course, we did do it and we did it well.”

Hard to believe that it is 7 years since they played together.

I think Plant has stated his position enough times for it to be crystal clear, unless he has an epiphany there will not be another reunion with Jimmy and JPJ.

I can completely understand Plant's reluctance.

They've already been Led Zeppelin.

Personally, I think it'd be a far better thing if they just did some stuff together, without all the Zep hoopla.

It's easy to say that, I know. They'll never escape the Led Zeppelin Frankenstein they created.

But they're big enough that they don't need to attach the band name in order to sell albums.

I'd surely buy a cd filled with some new stuff, even if it's just a collection of quaint, musically simple songs.

Even an acoustic thing would be a sure-fire success. I'd know buy it, along with a gazillion other people.

An Evening With Plant And Page

How cool would that be?

Even toss in a couple old ones (Boogie With Stu jumps right to mind).:):)

A Zeppelin reunion can't happen without Bonzo on the drums. Anything else, even with the remaining three, is no more than a tribute band.

The Songs Will Never Be The Same

In a way yes I wouldn't mind seeing them put together an album of NEW material but Plant just doesn't want to deal with the expectations. He's perfectly happy calling his own shots. The hypocritical part is Plant not wanting to be part of a "juke box" yet he still adds the band's songs in his set list albeit rendered differently.

Having said that, I haven't even listened to Page & Plant's 2 albums from the 90s yet. So I guess I still have some exploring to do.

Sad to see one of the best bands break up. Most bands, after they break up, they have reunion tours. With Led Zeppelin, not the case. Come on Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, let's get along and keep producing the great music that our many fans have loved for years. Music is about having a good time and pleasing your listeners. This needs to be applied to those two Led Zep band members. Plant and Page were making music with Led Zeppelin for years and then, after the band broke up in 1980, the two took some time working on solo albums. In 1994, I think, they formed Page and Plant and started making music again. After all that time together, they have to be friends. Robert Plant and Jimmy Page need to work this out before they turn 75 or 80 years old and can't make the great quality music that people have been buying and loving. Page and Plant need to work this out!
