Re: Jethro Tull

Ian has put a few dates out for Sept 2011 with German guitar ace Florian Opahle and pianist/accordionist/ percussionist John O'Hara. I think it will be the old Tull acoustic faves. Anyway I think I'll go check them out as they will be at my fave venue.

Re: Jethro Tull

^^Would'nt that be something LG. He did a radio show over the holidays, talking about and playing stuff from the Christmas album, for Planet Rock. It was really good as well.

Re: Jethro Tull

One of the five greatest bands that ever walked the planet.

I have seen them on every tour they have ever done starting with the first back in November 1968.

Okay, Anderson's voice is now shot to pieces but he can still pay a mean flute (and guitar)

Robust stuff

Jethro Tull’s IAN ANDERSON
Announces Acoustic Tour

Jethro Tull’s, Ian Anderson invites you to join him as he embarks upon a 13 date acoustic tour of the UK in September 2011.

Indulge yourself as Anderson brings you a feast of Tull repertoire, much of which is already, acoustic music, whether whole songs or sections of the blockbusters such as Thick As A Brick and Aqualung.

Anderson says: “I have always wanted to go out in the UK with a small line-up, to play and to restructure the songs and music for a more intimate and personalized performance. After many years of performing in this way for radio broadcasts in the USA, it seems like fun to bring this approach to the UK fans, old and new, and to make them feel like they are in my living room for an impromptu family concert.”

As a trio consisting of Ian, German guitar virtuoso Florian Opahle, and pianist/accordionist/ percussionist John O’Hara, he will play Tull acoustic classics, alongside rare and less well-known songs and other re-arranged Tull rock material. In addition, some new material specially written for these tours will make an appearance. This will be the most intimate tour that Anderson has ever undertaken and the audience can expect anecdotes and musical surprises to keep them intrigued.

As the self-professed “unplugged guy with a bunch of noisy friends” Ian Anderson commands much respect as an acoustic musician amongst his peers. The only original member of Jethro Tull, Ian remains synonymous with the brand identity.

Drawing on Folk, Classical, Rock and Jazz music styles, Ian continues to blend elements of many world music cultures to delight his fans.

Throw away the ear-plugs, sit back, relax and savor Anderson’s musical smorgasbord.
