n order for the upcoming Rolling Stones shows to take place, Keith Richards apologized to Mick Jagger for what he said about the singer in his 2010 autobiography, ‘Life.’ In a new interview, Richards says that incidents like these have happened repeatedly throughout the band’s 50-year history, but could never break up the Stones.

“It was something to get out of the bloody way so we could get the band on the road,” he told Rolling Stone. “You know, I’ll say sorry to God if you like. I don’t give a s—. I said, ‘Look forward, brother, look forward.’ If you was married to somebody for 50 years, you can have your little spats here and there, and we don’t mind having them in public occasionally. We can’t get divorced – we’re doing it for the kids!”

In ‘Life,’ Richards took plenty of shots at Jagger’s notorious ego and, um, manhood. But Jagger understands that it was just Keith being Keef, and was able to forgive his lifelong bandmate. “He did apologize, to my face,” Jagger said. “So you have to put all that sort of stuff away. Water under the bridge, really. Hopefully, you know, we can carry on working.”

But Richards doesn’t believe the four shows will be all fans will hear from the Stones in the near future. “My experience with the Rolling Stones is that once the juggernaut starts rolling, it ain’t gonna stop,” he continued. “So without sort of saying definitely yes – yeah. We ain’t doing all this for four gigs!”
