Is anyone experiencing unusual things on CRF?

Don't ban the spammers!! Unless it's my imagination, activity (for some reason? ) looks unusually low on here right now, we may need them to give the impression this place is rocking!!

^^Banning spammers is not optional, it's part of the job TS. I've never been fooled by looking at all those useless names in the visitor's list, everyone can see they aren't good members just fly by morons depositing their crap in here.

LG, this is precisely why you should never be allowed to leave CRF for any longer than the time it takes you to visit the bathroom, or maybe quickly microwave your supper, or sleep a while I suppose, but only stuff like that….one of these spammers last night was posting (in the Steve Hackett thread) about how to get a cheap mortgage in Beijing, and I have to tell you that with Manhattan property prices being so horrendous, until you'd stepped in and banned him I almost PM’d the idiot for details. I'm not sure why exactly he/she posted it in the Steve Hackett thread for mortgages....Home by the Sea?....Blood on the Rooftops?.....

Oh, and btw, I once had an album of about 50 photos on here featuring admittedly unattractively wrinkled, balding, ageing rock stars with no teeth of their own, but which I noticed is no longer here, and which is quite disappointing…does it self-delete or something unless it receives a certain number of member views?....or reported incidents of male genital arousal?....which if so I suppose might explain why it is that a pic from ecisgod’s albums of young, healthy, nubile girls in bikini’s seems to pop up along the top here about once every 2 minutes, 24/7?? :uh:

Is there anyway for the admins/mods to check out new members before they are allowed to register and post on here, in order to stem the growing tide of psychotics who seem to be increasing on here? I was curious and so I just watched a Russian skinhead with a samuri sword decapitate a dummy with blood splatter flying all over the place, posted by somebody who just arrived here today. OK it was fake and actually pathetic, but it seems anybody can register and post any garbage they want with no checks on whether they are authentic music fans, or just no-life sickos. I know on a lot of forums your request to join has to be reviewed and approved before you can post, and in fact in some cases your first few posts even have to be reviewed before they can even appear on the forum. I appreciate this might mean a lot more work, and not be feasible, but I had to ask, thanks!

Well BigE I would now very strongly support that suggestion of yours, at the time I wasn't convinced and I said so, but I changed my mind, and now I am personally getting sick of all the unrestricted head cases who can just sign up and start to post their crap instantaneously, it's OK people saying "if you don't like it, it's simple, you simply don't read it".....to which I would reply, OK, so how does that argument not also apply equally then to, say, online kiddie porn? So yes, I say shackle all newbies/spammers until they prove themselves....how exactly you achieve that is obviously up to the powers that be here!! Cheers.

I think the three month rule is a good one, if not perfect. Should a newbie seem genuine, it can be waived. If they appear dodgy, then it makes them wait. Spammers may still slip through, but it creates a barrier, thus preventing some of the confusion over their motives, as well as keeping posts from the sickos at bay.

To be fair, to newbies and to our long standing members, I will put the idea of restricting new members via a post count to a vote.
