IOMMI, GILLAN, LORD AND McBRAIN TEAMING UP
This news is brought to you by VH1 Radio's Dave Basner
In 1989, Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi and Deep Purple singer Ian Gillan recorded a version of Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the Water” to raise money for Armenians affected by an earthquake, and now, the pair have recruited some of their famous friends to create a new track to help folks in Armenia once again. Gillan and Iommi, along with Deep Purple keyboardist Jon Lord and Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain, are heading to the studio next week to record a new song. When it’s released, the tune will raise money to rebuild a music school that was originally created with the money raised in ’89. Learn more at Iommi.com.
