Interesting sales numbers Van Halen VS.Chickenfoot

A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRUTH SALES SURPRISE:
The question being asked by many Van Halen fans is just how many units has the band's latest studio album sold since its release in February of this year. A Different Kind Of Truth won widespread praise from fans and critics alike. It certainly remains a favourite of mine.
But that said - sales have been relatively stagnant after the initial release. As of last week, the album had sold a total of 400,620 units in the USA.
There is no real way to gauge total international sales, but if you take the USA alone, for comparison Van Halen 3 has scanned 515,322 [no mention of how many of those are in used CD bins] and the first Chickenfoot album has scanned 532,092 units to date. I don't yet have numbers for the second Chickenfoot album which was released just prior to the Van Halen album. Interesting numbers.

This isn't important to me and even though some would want to know for argument sake the numbers,I think ADKOT would have done well based on the hype of it coming out after what 20 years since the last Van Halen release which didn't even feature David Roth so..Whatever..
I still think both CD's are kick butt and I don't care if one sold more than the other..
This competition between Van Halen and Chickenfoot is getting out of hand..

I think if VH finished their tour they would have passed Chickenfoot in sales, but because they just stopped dead in their tracks so did interest in their new record.

I agree with Slip, all this chatter between two good bands has gone on long enough.

I am resigned to the fact the next big VH announcement will be a retirement from touring and recording.

I like both bands. Agreed with LG and Slip the competition is ridiculous. It is totally possibly to like both bands without constantly making comparisons to who is better.

Yep, time to enjoy the music from both acts and dispense with the "vs" arguments that no one can win.

Downloading would have played a massive part, working against ADKOT and Chickenfoot compared to Van Halen 3.

I like both bands as well.I just finished reading Sammy's book.It was a pretty good read ,but he sure did like to bash the Van Halen brothers.

Don't rule it out: Look at the Roth - Hagar tour that actually went ahead.
