Kenny Wayne Shepherd has been singing some lately and while he isn't terrible he just needs to let Noah Hunt do all the singing.

I think Gary's problem was with some of his lyrics rather than his singing.

- Vivian Campbell is a great guitar player, but very bad singer.
- Pete Townshend is not as good a singer as he thinks.
- I never understood Ted Nugent caterwalling when Derek St. Holmes was a more than capable singer (and guitarist).
- Jeff Beck doesn't like singing for good reason.
- The guitarists with Sweet took over when Brian Connolly died and were not very good.
- Brian May was an adequate backing singer, but did not have the confidence to sing convincingly with his own band.

Glen Tipton isn't bad and sang with Tipton, Entwistle and Powell. Mel Galley was a good singer and didn't sing enough in my view, even though he wanted to concentrate on guitar.

Mark Knopfler

I like Mark's vocals...:D

I also like Rik Emmet...:D

I agree with Bob Dylan, although singing on many of his songs is a stretch, more like a narrator to me.

Ted Nugent and Tom Petty are performers, and I like them both although Derek St. Holmes is a better singer no doubt.

Robbie Robertson was once asked why, as the main songwriter, he didn't sing more of The Band's songs. He replied that with singers as talented as Richard Manuel, Rick Danko and Levon Helm, it would be crazy for him to hog the vocals. Wise move Robbie.

He's not horrible, but he's better off just playing.

As far as Nugent goes, I guess he's adequate. I've been to see Uncle Ted 4 times, and I never went to hear him sing. I went to watch the cat play.

Try as I might to come up with an answer for this, I honestly can't think of any guitarists who shouldn't sing.

Everyone should sing, so long as they have a decent song. As long as it fits the music, everyone has a good voice...Except Vince Neil, but he's not a guitar player, so he doesn't count.
