My favorite album is Somewhere Out In Space, with Power Plant and Land Of The Free II coming close to it. Also, the latest album, Empire Of The Undead, is a great one. I mostly like the albums since Land Of The Free, when Kai started doing the voice. He may not be the best vocal in the world, but he puts so much heart in singing, I just love it.

I used to be a huge fan of Gamma Ray and although I've sort of grown out of that particular genre, I still listen to some of the old favourites from time to time. "Somewhere Out In Space" is also my favourite GR album. As you mentioned yourself, "Empire Of The Undead" is excellent, their best album for a while imo and the track "Avalon" is one of the bands best songs ever. "Time for Deliverance" is another highlight, which brings me back to "The Silence", which is also one of my favourite songs - I prefer the version from the "Skeletons in the Closet" live album.

Yeah, The Silence is so great on live versions! And Time For Deliverance is my favorite song from EOTU, together with Built A World.

Love when bands do jewel cases with two albums in it. Good way to start getting into Gamma Ray.

As good as those two albums are, I wouldn't personally recommend those first to a new fan. The first three albums with Ralf Scheepers (now in Primal Fear) all have great songs, some of which can be considered Gamma Ray classics, but I think albums like "Land of the Free" and "Somewhere Out in Space" (my favourite GR album) are far superior and much better representatives of the band's sound over the years.

Yeah I usually would go for what is considered their best first but for some reason with this band I wanted to go a different route and start from the beginning and work up. Kind of see how they evolve.
