I remember Tommy getting some criticism from some rock fan's on his FRIDAY NIGHT ROCK SHOW back around 1986 for playing to much thrash metal instead of ''classic heavy rock/metal bands'' on the show but he said that he was really getting into thrash (at that particular time).

''ROCK ON TOMMY''

I think when he used to do the Festive 50, or whatever it was, inherited from John Peel, there was a year when Won knocked Stairway to Heaven off the top spot. I remember Awaken and 2112 being in the list.

Gypsy Tarts Lightning Don't Strike Twice

I remember him well.

Tracks I remember him playing:

Heavy Metal Daze by Manowar
Shell Shock by Manowar
Dancing Madly Backwards by Captain Beyond
Get Up, Get Angry by The B'zz
Strange Dreams by Frank Marino
Juggernaut by Frank Marino
The Big Money by Rush
Hush by Deep Purple (Ian Gillan version)
Perfect Strangers by Deep Purple
Night of the Demon by Demon
Xero the Hero by Black Sabbath
Credo by Fish
2112 by Rush
Awaken by Yes
Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath
Eyesight to the Blind by Eric Clapton
Double Vision by Foreigner
City of Love by Yes
Different Germany by Ian Anderson
Lovedrive by Scorpions
Bored with Russia by Budgie

Tommy had a competition between new bands called Rock Wars. I remember a group called Gypsy Tarts winning. They were good. There was also a weekly competition where you had to spot the connection between three tracks (sent in by listeners). He used Van Der Graaf Generator as his theme music.

As Anyone got a copy of the gypsy tarts lightning don't strike twice?
Had It on tape but no longer tape destroyed by infant son
