Geoff Tate Accused of Threatening To Kill Queensryche Bandmate
News | Classic Rock

Queensryche guitarist Parker Lundgren says singer Geoff Tate threatened to "kill" drummer Scott Rockenfield after a concert during which he'd attacked two of his bandmates.

The frontman assaulted Rockenfield and guitarist Michael Wilton before warning bassist Eddie Jackson "You're next," then later regretted he hadn't hit Wilton hard enough, says Lundgren in a court submission.

The drama took place after the band's performance in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in April – an event which led to "Operation Knifecrime" rumours circulating online, alleging Tate had pulled a blade on the other members of Queensryche.

Lundgren's testimony is part of the band's papers arguing that the sacked singer should not be allowed to stop them continuing under their current name with new frontman Todd La Torre.

This whole scenario is becoming worse with each news release, it paints the entire band in a bad light.:nw:

Even though the band had obviously decided to kick Tate out the way they went about it was destined to create exactly the furor we are reading about now. Total lack of class on their part is what set off the chain reaction of events that followed. Then again no one will ever confuse rock and roll band members with being rocket scientists as this proves.(Generally speaking of course ;))

I am not condoning what Tate did but I can understand why he did lose his temper he was set up.

The legal fight will take a long time and a lot of money, I think the band should retire the Queensryche name and tour as a new band with their new singer, and speaking of LaTorre I wonder what he thinks of all this and his place in the band now.

Yeah - this is getting worse and worse... I agree LG they just need to retire the Queensryche name and both parties move in their own directions. But it just seems like the band wants to capitalize on the name and the material with the new singer, and Tate has every right to try and stop them. After all, Tate wrote the songs (and DeGarmo) and everything, so I think the band just needs to go its own way with Rising West and be done with it (I mean, what is Queensryche without Tate? It's not imo).

I watched the second vid before the first and it didn't strike me as spitting "AT" the drummer as much as just a lead singer spitting while on stage and spitting away from the audience. I've seen this countless times at shows I have attended, youtube vids as well as professionally released concert footage.

Then I watched the first video. That one was definitely much worse and appears to be pretty blatant in who/where he was spitting. Nicest thing I can say about that one is "what a douchebag!!!"
