Mick Fleetwood blames Stevie Nicks for lack of reunion

In an interview with Playboy, Fleetwood says that Nicks had already scuppered one reunion tour due to her commitments to her latest solo album.

"I don't believe Fleetwood Mac will ever tour again, but I really hope we do," he said. "We have rehearsed it and prepared for it since 2010. We were supposed to tour in 2011, but we delayed it for a year to allow Stevie Nicks to support her solo record and for Lindsey Buckingham to do the same with his."

He added: "I've always been supportive of my bandmates doing solo albums, so long as we kept our band together... I played drums on most of Stevie's album, the one she is still out there supporting and the one that is the reason that, for now, she refuses to do a Fleetwood Mac tour. It comes down to her."

Fleetwood went on to say of Nicks' current situation: "I understand what she likes about her situation. Touring in support of her album, she is able to be her, without any degree of compromise. She doesn't have to worry about the other three of us asking her to do anything. She has become obsessed with her album in a very nice but inconvenient way."

The band last toured together in 2009.

Always the danger when musicians make albums away from their bands, if it becomes big, they'll want to milk it for all it's worth under their own name. Plus, Fleetwood Mac will be going out and playing largely the same stuff as always. I love Fleetwood Mac, but if Nicks can be creative and release solo records, she strikes me as the type that would do that rather than run through Rumors every night for 9 months.

:hm:....Honestly I thought they had retired already from actively touring.

Makes no difference to me one way or the other, I have no interest in Stevie's solo albums they can't hold a candle to the White album or Rumours. If she continues to refuse to accommodate her old band mates then so be it, that is on her for being selfish. Doing one last tour while you still can wouldn't be too much to ask, after all even Stevie knows she owes everything in her career to Fleetwood Mac's success.

I've seen Stevie solo once and Fleetwood Mac twice in recent years. Both shows were great. In Stevie's defense, she's had a major solo career for quite sometime. Fleetwood Mac got back together on and off the last few years since The Dance and they always stopped for various reasons. One of them being Christine McVie didn't want to tour anymore. So I see no problem with Steve continuing with her solo career if she has previous commitments.

^^I like Stevie Nicks fine JG...in fact a few of us had a crush on her when Rumours came out...

:heheh:...but when it comes to being generous to the people who have been integral to your success then a last tour would not be too much to ask, when the timing is amendable to all parties of course. But I think Mick is worried that they are not getting any younger and to delay it too long might make it a moot point.

^^^ Yeah I don't know what's going on behind the scene, but every time I've seen an interview with her she has always spoken highly of Fleetwood Mac and always said that's where her heart is. But who knows what goes on that we don't hear. Maybe it is all her fault. Maybe it's Mick's.

^^As long as they are all on speaking terms then it might happen eventually. Kind of a unique band back in the late 70's, Christine and John were married, and Lindsey and Stevie were an item as well, before she hooked up with Don Henley and spiraled into her cocaine phase. She embarrassed herself here completely stumbling around on stage in a drugged stupor when they toured to support Tusk...Lindsey saved the show and promised they would come back and do another concert to make up for what happened. I am glad she is doing well now.

I wonder what Peter Green is doing these days. The thought of him and Lindsey going toe to toe on stage would make me want to buy a ticket.
