The lead singer definitely has a voice that is an aquired taste. I've often wondered if he is the guy that sings the soundtrack to the original animated version of The Hobbit. The voices sound rather similar.

But Wetton and the rest of the band make up for any reservations I might have about the vocals.

Very cool band.

Completely agree the vocals are an acquired taste, but Music in a Dolls House is a great album. I find it hard to believe it was released in 1968, you'd think it was from 6 or so years later. "Mellowing Grey" is IMHO one of the most beautiful Mellotron tracks ever, I *think* a certain Mr Wakemen may have been involved.

Should I get "Bandstand"?- saw a copy in its radio shaped album sleeve a few days ago, but looked very scratched

They are playing near here in August but I can't make it, would have been a great night, have seen the man before but never with Family:)

Favourite albums are Music from a Doll's House and Family Entertainment.

A good place to start with Family, to "acquire the taste" would be one of the compilations. I can recommend
