L.A. Woman was released on April 19,1971. Being a huge Doors fan, I bought it immediately. Their first album remains their best but all albums had many songs of distinction.Morrison Hotel was my 2nd favorite until L.A. Woman came out and the group made another great leap forward.
But then came Jim Morrison's death, 3 months after the album's release. I'll always tie the album to his untimely passing. The night Morrison died, Riders On The Storm was constantly played on the radio stations, sending additional chills down one's spine.
Like Joplin and Hendrix, their final albums were among their best making their passing ever more sad
I do recall that the first pressing of L.A.Woman had a yellow cellophane panel over the group's picture. They got rid of the cellophane later and just tinted the picture instead
