Def Leppard Redo Two Of Their Biggest Hits
hennemusic

To celebrate the summer of "Rock of Ages," Def Leppard has recorded new versions of "Pour Some Sugar On Me" and "Rock Of Ages."

The songs will be available on iTunes, Amazon.com, and all other digital music retailers June 4th.

Leppard have billed their summer tour as Rock Of Ages, after the band's hit from their 1983 release, "Pyromania," and the upcoming Broadway play-turned-movie starring Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Russell Brand and Julianne Hough.

The Rock Of Ages tour also features Poison and Lita Ford, and it kicks off June 20 in Salt Lake City.

Don't really care about "Pour Some Sugar On Me" being redone,,,but am mystified why they would re-record "Rock of Ages", it's fine the way it is.:dunno:

I haven't ever gotten the fascination for PSSOM.

Re-recording Rock of Ages does make me feel a bit queasy though. Maybe it would be sort of ok if it was some special version recorded specifically for the movie soundtrack but on its own look like a money grab.

Never a good idea. Hate to say it but in the music world you probably shouldn't invite critical comparisons between your current self and you when you were in your prime. Doesn't ever end well.

Hey guys I heard Leonardo Da Vinci is going to repaint The Mona Lisa. Apparently he wasn't happy with the first one.

Even worse idea for Def Leppard: both of those tracks were produced by Mutt Lange and cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to perfect. No matter what the technical advancements, the new versions can only be inferior.

Happy to be proven wrong, but I'd be truly amazed.

Only like the original albums, I dislike Joe Elliott is a big headed bafoon, I walked out of one of their shows as they could only doo cover versions that night and I only really went to see Cheap Trick and SAAB and most of the crowd walked out too. There have had my rant

Leave it alone...I agree with LG! The original Rock Of Ages is fine the way it is.

IMO it's PERFECT the way it is. Doesn't need to be redone.

Hey I got a wild and wacky idea!!! How 'bout some NEW songs??

:bonk:
