Like I said ..the early stuff is better but the reformation of Purple put out far superior albums to anything Rainbow did after RDJ left.

Great Rainbow albums : First three are classic among the best material the 70's has to offer .

Albums worth a listen after RDJ left the band: 0... the big goose egg. Basically a bubblegum pop group with guitars that write a few good rockers here and there..but they are VERY few and far between.

How "big" a band is is not an indication of the quality of their material as the mainstream( the bulk of the buying public ) is basically a large group of trend jumping sheep buying disposable music to be in and cool. ( or perhaps they buy their albums because of how they look on the back cover lol definitely not an indication of the bands worth)

Glad to have agreed to disagree ,,because I'm not interested in going farther. I stated my opinion..you yours .You feel that you are right and I know that I am :heheh:

.it's all good.

Over and out

I have previously read in a rock magazine a few years ago that by the time of RAINBOW'S last release BENT OUT OF SHAPE in 1983 the band sounded like FOREIGNER!.

Well they did!. Although that ain't a bad thing cos Ritchie was trying to break the band in the USA with this and the previous 2-albums DIFFICULT TO CURE 1981 & STRAIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES 1982.

I personally like the BENT OUT OF SHAPE album and was looking forward to the next RAINBOW album when i read in SOUNDS (UK music paper remember them?) that Ritchie was 'breaking up' RAINBOW to be apart of the reformed DEEP PURPLE!.

Bad move Ritchie my old son!. :uh:

A couple from Deep Purple's excellent come back album, Perfect Strangers.
Richie leaves the middle of the road behind and comes back to play some real rock and roll :D

Another great album that got overlooked due to the horrible state of radio at the time ( which continues ......... ) and the fickle "rockers" that cling to the media for their clue of what's "hip" and "now"

@ Powerage, Yep...Fireball and Who Do We Think We Are are both awesome albums despite what the "rock press" tells you you should think about them.
