Re: Deep Purple

I have to credit Deep Purple with somehow finding a way to keep things going despite all the line-up changes over their 40 years in the business, but I grew up with MK II and have to agree with DKW. Not taking anything away from the other vocalists, they did a good job too.

Re: Deep Purple

Do I still have to explain how much I love Deep Purple? :D
My first meeting with them was through Peferct Strangers song, there are some rumours it was no. 8 in polish charts. Thanks to my dad, who told me "can you download this song for me for va compilation?" and so I did. He doesn't like hard rock anyway, when he found I listen to Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin he was like "how can you listen to... THAT hard rock?!". Then I started with In Rock moving further to Gillan/Glover era work.

Re: Deep Purple

I know some people think it's over hyped, but I still think this is a great performance:

Right, regardless of how good some of the material was with other Purple vocalists, their best singer was Gillan.

While he obviously would have never wrote some of the material that guys like Evans, Coverdale, Hughes or Turner did, I've got $20 (American money) that says Gillan could do ANY song from an era that he wasn't in Purple better than the guy who actually recorded and sung it for Purple.
