Although Machine Head is in my top 10 albums of all time, that is a Little bit much for me.

I'd be interested in the Quad SQ mix and the DVD High Resolution discs, but the others I already have 5 different CD's of the album.

Plus I bought a brand new 180 gram audiophile vinyl record a few months ago, which I will play when I want to feel this record the way it was intended.

I think I will stick with the copy I got as it is. I don't see the constant remastering as necessary either.

^^There was either a 5.1 DVD audio disc of Machine Head or an SACD version I saw in Futureshop here years ago, before both formats seemed to vanish into thin air. Part of the reason was the price, way Too expensive no matter what quality they were selling. You have to find a niche that consumers will support in the long run, unlike movie openings now it's sustained sales that have always driven album revenue.

And the fact you buy 1 song off an record on i-tunes or Amazon now doesn't help.

Yeah, now that you said that I kinda remember a stand alone 5.1

Maybe they should try it again and package it as a two disc (5.1 & Standard).....or a simple 2 disc 1 DVD deal...

^^There was an entire display rack of old classic rock albums in DVD audio format, Toto's Hydra, Deep Purple's Machine Head, Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, and quite a few others but they were really expensive so I passed.

SACD's....never had a chance and now there are "amateurs" who will use their magnificent analog systems to offer a classic OOP vinyl record that sounds better than any SACD ever made. 24-192 is the bare minimum for digital HQ now, and there is a 32 bit system on the drawing board which should be out in a couple years. That will extinct Blu-Ray as the state of the art medium.
