Written by Mick Ralphs who was in both Mott the Hoople as well as Bad Company. Recorded this tune with both bands, just about 2 years apart from each other. Which version do you like better? The original MtH version or BadCo? They are slightly different as the Mott version is actually called Ready For Love / After Lights.

I loved Bad Company's version when I heard it, and back when that was all that I knew. But when I heard Mott the Hoople's version, oh, my mind was freaking blown. It's now my preference, without a doubt (and my inspiration, aside from the gentle suggestion of my dear sister's expertise, to pick up a few of their LPs).

Bad Co, although I will admit that as someone who doesn't care for most of the Mott the Hoople I've head, I do dig their version of this tune.

Bad Company.

That is the first time I had heard the Mott original (actually I didn't know the Bad Co song was a cover), it is quite different, sounds kind of stripped down compared to the Bad Co cover, IMHO.

Like Magic... I thought it was a Bad Co. original at first & always loved the song but then in the early 80's I discovered the Mott the Hoople version & ... I really couldn't enjoy the Bad Co. version any longer after hearing Mott's. I like Bad Co. but I can't listen to their version of this.

Mott gets my vote by miles
