All good imho......
'Acquiring The Taste' by Giant is my favorite by them....more accessible than the later ones.
'Pawn Hearts' by VDGG is considered by many prog heads to be one of the greatest prog lps of all time.
It takes required listening imo because of Peter Hammill's vocals and the music is odd as is the music by GG. Robert Fripp plays guitar on a few tracks.
Caravan 'In the Land of Grey and PInk' is a favorite from the Canterbury school of prog an d worth getting imho.
Mahavishnu 'Inner Mounting Flame' is a tour de force imho of jazz rock fusion...not for the faint of heart.
Strawbs 'From The Witchwood' is another favorite....always been a fan of their proggy folk rock and Rick Wakeman plays all kevboards on it and one or two other lps by them before he joined Yes.

But all of those on the list are worth hearing and imho most are worth owning depending on ones taste of course.

The lands of Marshall Stack.
Even the albums from this year that aren't on the poll underpins just what a feast of prog that was available in '71.....Probably most of us on here own all, if not many on the list.
Low Spark was Number One.
Hawkwind were second.
With Meddle grabbing the bronze medal- mostly based on where & what & when i heard them... the predictable categories being (girls, booze, powders and school)

It's my second favorite. But I think it is the most 'accessible' in their entire discography, especially for a newer listener. My personal favorite is the whimsical 'The Power and the Glory'
Octopus, In A Glass House, Power and the Glory and Free Hand all have about the same rating on Prog Rock Archives. Most of the prog fans have one of those as their favorite.
The first one I heard back in the day at college was Acquiring the Taste which is probably why its my favorite...after that I quite like Free Hand. Many think In A Glass House (or Octopus) is their 'best' but I always found it a bit too weird though Power and the Glory is also complex and challenging.
I usually have to be 'in the mood' to play them or play VDGG.

Gentle Giant -Acquiring the Tatse- 'The House the Street the Room'
I'm a fan of these guys but they are also challenging due to multiple changing rhythms and quirky songwriting
