Bruce Springsteen (Official Thread)

I know it's the one real fans tend to look down on but Born in the USA is probably my favorite of Bruce's. Easily some of his most incredible tracks on that one.

I think Born in the USA is good but definitely not a favourite track, I loved Cover Me, Im Goin' Down, Downbound Train the most on this album.

I've seen the Boss twice. The first time was when he was married to that hollywood woman and was touring with that other band rather than the E Street variety.

The second time was on the We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions. Wow, what an awesome show. A brass section, mandolins, stand up bass, accordians, banjos.

So, Ive' seen him twice, but never with the E Street Band. Bummer.

Cranking up Born To Run again. Love Thunder Road but another track that stood out for me was Backstreets. Love that song. Love the piano work in it too.

It all just goes well together. Relaxing rock music actually.

Might get some more Bruce albums when I get the chance. Anything specific that is good, I have Born to Run and Born In The USA.

^^Those are my two favorites, by a wide margin over the rest of his discography.

Maybe "Darkness on the Edge of Town" might be to your liking Riff, and his best Live album is also good. Other than that I am not a big fan of his Nebraska minimalist style records.

I haven't played his new one enough to give an honest appraisal one way or the other.

The Wild, The Innocent, & The E Street Shuffle a really raw album, and it doesn't get the recognition it should.

From what I've read, sales were slow, even though it got 5 stars and critical acclaim from the music industry.

This is one of those albums that may take some time to grow on you. That's what happened to me.

Now, it's probably the one I love the most.


Stay with it, because it's worth the effort.

All of them have their merits, except Working on a Dream which should have been re-titled Working on a Total Disaster...I'm a bit of a Springsteen nut and probably don't see him in the same rational/unbiased light that many people do, but the new album is phenomenally good, and I'd strongly say to anyone go out and buy it.

For sure go for....

The Rising (basically a beautiful/moving love-letter to '9/11')
Darkness on the Edge of Town (his best album all round IMO)
The River (double album, straight E Street Band rock n roll pretty much every track)
Ghost of Tom Joad, and Devils and Dust (more reflective, folky, some of his best songs on these albums)
Live in NYC (double, could be the best live album out there, and I mean ever)
