Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson thinks his band is better than Metallica. The rocker told England’s Metal Hammer magazine that Metallica “might be bigger” than Maiden and sell more tickets and “get more gold-plated middle-class bourgeoisie turning up to their shows, but they’re not Maiden.” Bruce also states that Iron Maiden have lasted so long because they have a “sense of fearlessness.” Read more at MetalHammer.co.uk.

In my very humble opinion, Maiden are far superior to Metallica in that their singer, guitarists and most albums (and cover art) are better.

As regards Metallica being bigger, are they really??

Maiden have not only done more albums but of their own genre have done consistently good albums.
Metallica done 5 consistently great albums but the rest are either mediocre or plain suck.

This. I agree completely. Maiden are far superior. Plus, Bruce Dickinson is one of my favorite vocalists.

I think Maiden is a bigger band, just not in album sales. I mean, thinking about how global Maiden is I think they have a much larger, wider fanbase.

I suspect Bruce made this statement with tongue in cheek anyway. Yes Iron Maiden are a great band and Bruce a fantastic frontman, but Maiden just don't rock my boat anywhere near like Metallica do
