The album had a good sugar buzz for me but the only song that really stuck was Wanting And Waiting. They played four from the album when I saw them in September of 2024. I'll be honest, that was one incredibly joyless show. Other than from Chris, there was not one smile that came from the stage and it felt tense. Mrs. Buckeye had been wanting to see them for years and she was very disappointed.
I saw them open for ZZ Top in '91 a few shows before they got kicked off the tour for bad behavior or something. They took allot of verbal shots at ZZ Top during their performance about ZZ Top using tapes and backstage musicians. Just where does that rhythm guitar come from during lead solos? (smiling) I believe they were actually kicked off for bad mouthing the tour sponsor (Miller Beer) and not ZZ Top.
In general, I really liked The Black Crowes when they came out because it was a face full of Humble Pie in a big hair metal world. I still prefer Humble Pie but thankful for The Black Crowes.
