If you happened to be in attendance at the O2 Arena in London last November when Bill Wyman joined the Rolling Stones on stage for the first time in roughly 20 years, hang on to those memories, because Wyman says it’ll never happen again.

Having already expressed his disappointment with his extremely limited involvement during the shows, Wyman later revealed that he’d turned down an invitation to join the band on the American leg of its ’50 and Counting’ tour. And judging from the tone of his comments during a recent interview with the Huffington Post, it sounds like he intends to decline all further Stones opportunities, too.

That doesn’t mean he regrets playing with the band one last time, however. “The nice thing was that my kids saw me on stage with the Stones,” he explained. “They’d asked me the December before, and I had to jam with them for three days. I was under the impression I was going to get really involved, but when it came to it, they only wanted me to do two songs, which was very disappointing.”

As far as Wyman’s concerned, that feeling was probably inevitable. “I’ve always maintained that you can’t go back to things, and they can never be the same,” he pointed out. “It’s like a school reunion, or Tony Hancock’s Army reunion. If you try to go back and have a relationship with someone, it doesn’t work, and it’s the same musically. It doesn’t work. It was a one-off. Five minutes. OK, never again. No regrets, we’re still great friends.”

Kind of sad it worked out this way if Wyman wanted to do a full show with his old mates then Mick, Keith and Charlie should have made it happen.

Wyman is right about one thing, you can never recapture your past it never lives up to your memories and it's futile to think otherwise.

I'd like to see one last blow out show with the six surviving "official" members and maybe some of their favorite sidemen from over the years, like Ian McLagen and Bobby Keys. They could call it "The Last Time" and really mean it.
