The Illinois Press- P.N.S.(When You Come Around)

The Illinois Speed Press....one of my favorite bands no one knows. I have mentioned them here several times....love their two lps....should have been huge imho...better than the Eagles and Poco imho.
Check out the official Poco thread.

This clip is a bit of an eye-opener. Some really great bands mentioned in here - have they really been forgotten?

That’s a good question. For people like us, classic rock enthusiasts, the answer is no. However, the majority of these bands are never mentioned anymore, even by rock radio, streaming services, or critics of today.
All of the artists mentioned in that video are legends and innovators for the future.
For me, the only band mentioned that I have not had any exposure to is Fanny. That is surprising because of my personal interest in females in music. The Move is another I know very little about. Same for The Strawbs.
I will say one thing for videos & articles like this, it does make me want to dig out these old classics and listen to them!

As far as Fanny I heard of them but never looked into them…but there was a band from the Cleveland/Elyria Ohio area in the 70’s called Molkie Cole. They used to play a song called Blind Alley and I always thought it was an original of theirs. A few years ago Cherie Currie released a cool covers album with Brie Darling called the Motivator. I found out Brie drummed for Fanny for about a year so I looked into Fanny and found out Blind Alley was on one of their albums and they wrote it.(It’s a really cool tune) …As far as the Move they were an influence on Paul Stanley so I looked into them plus they had the ELO/ Roy Wood and Jeff Lynne connection plus they originally did California Man which Cheap Trick covered and when Cheap Trick covered it they added a small part of another Move song called Brontosaurus to it(Tim Curry actually covered Brontosaurus on one of his records) sorry I dragged on a bit here… Speaking of forgotten bands I always loved Sensational Alex Harvey Band and the other day just before Cheap Trick hit the stage they played an Alex Harvey Band song called Snake Bite(I knew Rick Nielsen was a huge Alex Harvey fan too so it was cool hearing that)
