I've been trying to talk myself out of my first impression. Now, why would I do that?
why not? maybe that's what first impressions are for.

this thing just tore up the speakers, you know?
I guess my speakers were overdue to get tore up.

It's was like playing Bubble Gum Music and White Light/White Heat at the same time and it only took one record player!!
Genius!!

This might seem like kind of a generic choice, but my favorite for '85 would be Scarecrow by John Mellencamp. I listened to it endlessly at the time and still think the songs are great today.

I second that Telecat!
Jimmy and Paul had a great sound with that bruising rythym section Chris Slade and Tony Franklin!

I was lucky enough to meet Paul Rodgers and Chris Slade at a small club
gig Paul was performing in Burnaby, BC around 10 yrs ago....while Paul was playing his Bad Company and some solo songs with his bar band, I managed to have a long chat with Chris Slade who was watching as well.
He had "retired" from drumming at that time as he had had a few successful years with ACDC from the late 80's to the early/mid 90's playing on albums like The Razor's Edge and bashing the drums to sell-out crowds around the world....an all round nice guy to chat with....just wish that Page was also there!
