It's been many months since Montreal rockers Arcade Fire unleashed their Grammy-winning album, The Suburbs.

There's a deluxe edition of said disc arriving in North America on Aug. 2 - one year less a day since The Suburbs' original release. And two of the extra-special packaged bonus tracks, Speaking in Tongues and Culture War, have surfaced in advance.

BBC Radio's Zane Lowe premiered the tracks Monday.

The second of the two mid-tempo cuts - Speaking in Tongues - has become the most noteworthy of the pair, what with the Talking Heads' David Byrne doing backup vocals on the track.

As for that upcoming deluxe reissue, the package will also include a DVD of the Spike Jonze short, Scenes From the Suburbs, and an 80-page photo book from the film, among other goodies. Arcade Fire will be in Moncton July 30 as opening act for U2.

No offense Abraxas, I like the group and their music but this is such an asshole thing to do to their fans. Their actual fans will buy the c.d. likely the first week it comes out and now to get two frigging songs they have to buy the whole thing again. Fans should only have to buy the c.d. once. If they release more than one edition it should all be on opening day so fans that do the research have a shot at buying the regular one from the beginning. These delayed special editions are for fair weather tagalongs that heard about them at the Grammy's and all Arcade is doing is trying to squeeze a couple more bucks out when they could be using songs like that for a whole new album. Sorry but these ploys really get me pissed as someone who still buys music as a fan! :nw:

^^Easy there tiger...:heheh:

Sooty this is nothing new, and it's not the band but their management/label that is behind this.

I've said it before, I wouldn't mind every CD being the same length as our old LP's, a little over 40 minutes, give us one album a year and I'm good with that.

No offense taken. I am hesitant on whether I should get the deluxe edition or not. Too bad they don't include their performance from Austin City Limits with the package. I'd rather see that than a short film on a bunch of kids in the suburbs.
