Personally, I don't like any band from the 21st century. People say there are good bands from the 21st century, you just need to find them, but frankly, thats all they've said. I haven't heard someone back that statement up with an example. I just, can't find any good bands from the 21st century. Hard rock especially. :wa:

Please define what you mean by "band from the 21st century"? Do you mean newly formed or bands that existed before and still play in the 2000s?

Personally it's not something I can relate to but it's no different to me than someone who only likes rock, only likes country, only likes rap, only likes classical etc., etc. You happen to only like a sound from a certain era. In the end you have to decide if that's just the way it is or if you are truly listening with an open mind to newer material. There is no wrong in this as long as you realize that newer music doesn't work for you personally and that's where it ends. The only thing I find frustrating is when people think if they don't personally like it then it sucks.

I agree with S&S. I sincerely believe that people should change with the times. I have kept an open mind since the 50s and like bands from all decades. I still check out new bands all the time and add a new one to my collection here and there. I like music of all genres, including country. Hundred of rock bands were formed in the 2000s. Today's music scene is so broad there is something for everyone out there. Check 'em out...the worst that can happen is that you might find one you like. Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire, The Decemberists, Broken Social Scene, Drive By Truckers, Arctic Monkeys, New Pornographers, The Strokes, Foofighters, Jet, Wolfmother, Brand New, The Darkness, and Sonata Arctica all have been recommended elsewhere. Not sure if all were formed after 2000. I haven't heard them yet either but I intend to now.

Annie, I like your attitude! Personally even if I throw a band out there I don't even get bothered if people don't like it. Just getting one fan for a band is more than enough. If someone doesn't like it though the only thing that gets me peeved if they just say, "That band sucks!" with no explanation. Get enough of that attitude in a forum and that particular forum goes down the shitter!

Thank you. I love The Killers and have their albums, I just wasn't sure if they formed after 2000 but I found that they formed in 2002. So they would be way up on my top 10. System of a Down is an oldie, they formed in 1994. I don't care too much for the White Stripes and I don't know the audioslave. Velvet Revolver is essentially a continuation of Guns & Roses and formed in 1998.

Hey come on! '98 is almost 2000 !! :D Audioslave is something you NEED to check out :)
Oh and system of a down is indeed older then I would've guessed.

Modest Mouse are a bit regulation to me, there's nothing that stands out or has "Wow factor"

Although we should probably wait until LXA posts again before we continue. Unless we know what he's specifically looking for, we're just throwing out names of random bands that we like, LXA might like none of them, which would make these posts pointless! :D
